MS Dhoni will play his 18th IPL season for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2025.
CSK will start their season against Mumbai Indians (MI) on March 23. Dhoni, one of the most loved cricketers, now only plays in the IPL. A video of him practicing and hitting the ball perfectly has gone viral on social media, exciting fans.
Dhoni, now 43, has won five IPL titles as CSK captain, with the latest win in 2023. After that, he gave the captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad. In 2024, CSK finished fifth under Gaikwad, missing the playoffs after losing their last match to RCB.
Despite playing lower in the batting order, Dhoni had a great season in 2024. He scored 161 runs at an average of 53.67 and an amazing strike rate of over 220. He was reportedly injured during that season, but fans hope he can bat higher in IPL 2025.
Dhoni retired from international cricket in 2019, and since then, CSK has been able to retain him as an uncapped player for IPL auctions. He has also hinted that he might continue playing for a few more years.
