Harry Brook banned from IPL for 2 Years – Moeen and Rashid react

Harry Brook has been banned from the IPL for two years after he suddenly withdrew from the 2025 season to focus on his commitments with England. The 26-year-old had been bought by Delhi Capitals for ₹6.25 crore at last year's auction.

Here’s what his England teammates think about the ban:

Moeen Ali: “I Agree With the Decision”
Former England all-rounder Moeen Ali supports the BCCI’s decision. He believes it isn’t harsh and that players should face consequences for withdrawing at the last minute. “It’s not harsh. I agree with it, in a way, because many players have done this,” Moeen said on the Beard Before Cricket podcast.

This isn’t the first time Brook has pulled out; last season he was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for ₹4 crore but didn’t play at all. Moeen pointed out that last-minute withdrawals disrupt team plans, as the team has to adjust when a key player like Brook backs out. “It messes up the team. Any team losing Harry Brook has to rearrange everything,” he added.

Adil Rashid: “You Know the Rules”
England leg-spinner Adil Rashid also agreed with Moeen. He said players should be aware of the consequences when they enter the auction. “They made the rule before, so when you put your name in, you know the consequences,” Rashid explained. He also said that while exceptions should be made for injuries, players should be held responsible for withdrawing voluntarily.

Brook’s sudden decision to withdraw has led to this new rule, banning players from the IPL auction for two years if they pull out after being signed.
