 Ricky Ponting Talks About Punjab Kings' Strong Team for IPL 2025

With IPL 2025 just around the corner, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) held a press conference to discuss their plans for the upcoming season. Head Coach Ricky Ponting, Captain Shreyas Iyer, and CEO Satish Menon shared their thoughts on the team and their goals.

Ponting praised Shreyas Iyer as the captain and expressed his excitement to work with him. He said, "Shreyas is a great person and an IPL-winning captain. We couldn't ask for more. He's just joined the camp, and he's starting to leave his mark as a leader. His leadership will keep evolving as we approach our first game."

Ponting, who has won the World Cup twice, also spoke about the team’s balance. "We have a good mix of young and experienced players. Our Indian players are top-quality, and we also have some excellent overseas players."

He was happy with the team's preparation, adding, "We had our first practice session last night, and it went really well. The boys have been training hard."

Shreyas Iyer also shared his excitement about working with Ponting again, praising his support for the players. "He makes you feel confident and capable. When I worked with him before, he made me believe I could excel in this format. The confidence he gives is incredible."

Shreyas also talked about the team’s goal for the season: “Our main aim is to win the trophy. We’re taking it step by step. The way we’re practicing and connecting as a team, it’s going really well.”

CEO Satish Menon highlighted the team's fearless attitude, especially the younger players. "We have a great coach in Ponting and an IPL-winning captain in Shreyas. It doesn't get better than that. We've also focused on building our Punjab brand, and that's why we have several players from the state in our squad."

Punjab Kings will start their IPL 2025 campaign on March 25, facing Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
