KKR pick Chetan Sakariya as a replacement for Umran Malik

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is starting on March 22. The first match will be between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have suffered a setback as pacer Umran Malik will miss the IPL 2025 season due to an injury. To replace him, KKR has signed left-arm fast bowler Chetan Sakariya.

Chetan Sakariya is returning to KKR after being part of their IPL 2024 championship-winning team, though he didn’t play last season. After not getting picked in last year’s mega auction, Sakariya has now joined KKR again for ₹75 lakh, the same amount as before.

This gives Chetan Sakariya a fresh chance to make an impact this year, especially after not getting to play last season. His addition strengthens KKR’s pace attack by bringing in variety with his left-arm bowling and his ability to swing the ball.

Chetan Sakariya started his IPL career in 2021 with Rajasthan Royals, where he impressed with his skills in both the powerplay and death overs. In 2022, he was picked by Delhi Capitals. So far, he has played 3 seasons of IPL, appearing in 19 matches and taking 20 wickets with an economy rate of 8.43.

With this signing, KKR has strengthened their fast-bowling team, and Sakariya will be excited to make the most of the opportunity if he gets a chance to play in the starting XI.
